Dragon Quilt

My friend Camille is having her 60th birthday, and invited all her friends to make a quilt square for her "Dragon Quilt."  She gave us some sample swatches of color ideas and freedom to design for her.

Having just moved to Hawaii, where quilting is an amazing cultural art form, I was inspired to try something that would modestly reflect the Hawaiian designs.
Anyway, my design included a dragon's footprint, dragon's wings, heart and breath of fire.  What I wrote as a dedication was this:

May the wings of the dragon help you fly strong and stay on course.  May the footprint of the dragon remind you to stay firmly grounded to the earth.  May the fire of the dragon keep you warm and safe from danger.   And, may the heart of the dragon beat strong and in tune with your own.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMILLE!

ZAT says it all!

It has been one month since our last post to the blog, and a LOT has happened.  The moving company arrived on Dec 7th, and despite a few snafus, they got it (almost) all loaded and on the way -- all 1800 cu feet of it.  We expect it to arrive here around January 25th.

Our wonderful 20-year old truck arrived safely, and we got our new license plates in 2 days!!  ZAT's IT!

We arrived, like we had hoped on 12/12/12 - which seemed pretty auspicious, and since then, we have been working on a variety of house and yard projects.  We are meeting new friends and neighbors and having fun exploring our neighborhood.  If you'd like to see more of where we live, just do a "Google Images" and type in "Puna, Hawaii."  Or, if you are really adventuresome, you can type in our address in "Google Earth" and drive down our street!  Type in:  13-3543 Luana St., Pahoa HI 96778.

More updates will be coming more regularly since VERIZON just put up a cell tower two blocks away -- and we are now wireless phone and wireless internet with Mi-Fi for our computer!  ALOHA!
