The Way We Were

Well, if you remember THAT song, you probably recall the way it began...
"Memories...light the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories...of the way we were"

As we can see from this photo, our house was burned but still not covered. because the lava is flowing northeast, away from our house.

Unfortunately, these memories are not very watercolor-like but more like angry Vincent-memories. From reports, our Luana street was #8 of the big fissures opening. Ironically, Lunel was in ICU at Hilo Hospital at the time because 12 hours prior she had a seizure and was taken by ambulance to the emergency room. Phil did the best he could loading up 4 dogs and 7 bags of clothes and one fat emergency envelop, but under emergency evacuation and without his 'office manager' missed some important things.

Well, the above photo is where we would have been ignoring the mandatory evacuation. And, here's where we are now around a lovely table with other refugees in a true aloha home. We will continue to let you know where and how we are, but today we are safe and comfortable and on our way to a better diagnosis of Lunel's health.

Thank you ALL for your thoughts and prayers -- and understanding if we don't get back to you. (Please remember we are not facebookers or tweeters.)  In addition to repairs for Lunel, we have issues with our Versa and reconstructing a bunch of missing contacts, passwords, and other essential documents that were left in such an emergency.

Astra at Many Hands Gallery in Eureka has set up a Go-Fund-Me account for those who may want to help in that way: Go Fund Account

Aloha NUI LOA!

  1. Blessing too you all. So glad that you are safe and Lunel is being cared for health wise. Our hearts hurt for your lose, but we know how resilient you both are, and we are sure that the future will be bright, wonderful and filled with the magic that you both carry.

    1. As you may recall, we honor the dark goddesses and we live on a living one! one of our first garden beds (of which there were over 30) was named "The Dark Goddess Bed" because it had black plants in it --when rebecca made her 'transition' i believe i mentioned it to you, on behalf of our memory of her. change itself is the only constant -- we thank you for your love

  2. So sorry to hear about Lunel’s health and your catastrophic loss. We want to help you with more than thoughts and prayers, although you definitely have them.

    1. Mahalo for connecting with us. Astra asked about setting up a go-fund account. What hurts the most is the lost of our 32-year collection of art, both others and our own. So much of our history was on the walls. Good to hear from old humboldt county friends again, just not under these circumstances.

  4. Spreading the word on the GoFundme site. Hoping you are both doing ok under the circumstances.
When the time comes, past this event, I know there will be some very interesting art coming forth.
    Everything flows forward.
    Hugs, M & G
