Hurricanes!

 Lions and tigers and bears -- OH MY!  No, we're not in Kansas but this weather is getting serious.  It took two weeks to get internet and phone back up after Lala.  In the meantime, half of the population here in Volcano village area is still without internet -- due to crappy Hawaiian Tel service.  We are thankful we have Spectrum and while we do have one additional loose wire to hook up, that is a minor fix.

Today, the project was to squeegee all the standing water out of the carport that was threating the indoor lanai area.  That meant cleaning off all the storage shelves, sweeping out both the debris and the water, but that project is now done.  We have someone scheduled to come on Friday to clean out the debris in all of our buildings' gutters and power wash the roofs. Given the upcoming additional storm threats, that may be postponed.

Anyway...here's the latest on the next LINEUP of potential disasters headed our way. Life in rural Hawaii on the Big Island....stay tuned!

 Remember Ringo's song "Octopuses Garden" from 1968?? 

The idea of “Octopus’s Garden” came to Ringo Starr when he was in Sardinia in 1968, on holiday with his family after having temporarily leaving The Beatles during their recording of the “White Album” due to tensions in the group. Starr ordered fish and chips, but the waiter mistakenly gave him squid, a first time for him, and he said of it, “It was okay. A bit rubbery. Tasted like chicken.” The captain went on to tell Starr about how octopuses travel along the seabed picking up stones and other shiny objects and create gardens with them. He later wrote a octopus children's book about Octopuses.
